Sunday afternoon brings car-free community to downtown, and it’s all about you! Build community when you come out to play! All activities are free to the public.
Patton Avenue goes car-free from Pritchard Park to Pack Square. At the base of the Vance Monument, help cover the roadway with chalk mandalas; cook in a solar oven; or watch demonstrations of mutual respect in the martial arts. Enjoy a police escort across Biltmore Avenue at your leisure to find playground games; practice soccer skills; or get dirty with CompostNow! You’ll meet lots of neighbors on Church Street (some offering free yoga and dance), including beloved Helen Nagan who returns to draw free caricatures of our diverse Asheville community – that’s you. Kids can march to music they create at Pritchard Park, and practice real on-bike skills at our bike rodeo! Learn about your amazing brain on Haywood Avenue!
We’re all about inspiring active lifestyles, building community, and encouraging advocacy for our shared future here in Asheville. And you know what we say: active streets build a better Asheville. Come play!
Park at city garages in downtown; our route is centrally located. Bring bikes, helmets & plenty of pocket change for shopping and dining at our local shops! See you there.
